sakkad — Help & Support

Read word by word, at the speed of light. · Version 1.1

How do I add text?

Tap the + button in the bottom right of your Library, or “Add new text” on the Read page. You can import PDF, Word (.docx), EPUB, and plain text files, enter a web address, or paste text from your clipboard.

How do I pick up where I left off?

Your progress is saved automatically. Just tap the “Continue” card on the Read page or the book in your library — reading resumes at the exact word you left off.

How do I change the reading speed?

On the reading screen, tap the word to open the bottom panel and adjust the speed (WPM). You can also change your lasting preference under Settings → Speed. If you're just starting out, 250–350 WPM is a good range.

Why do long words get split?

The text size stays fixed; words too long to fit on screen are split into hyphenated parts and shown one after another for readability. Choosing a smaller text size means fewer splits.

How do I personalize the look?

Under Settings → Reading view you can choose the background, text, and focus letter colors, along with the font and its size. Reading colors are independent of the app theme.

How do folders work?

Create a folder from the + button in your Library. Long-press a book to enter selection mode, then use “Move” to send it to a folder. If you delete a folder, its contents move back to the library — nothing gets deleted.

Where is my data stored?

Everything lives on your device, and only there. Sakkad works without an internet connection; your texts are never sent to any server.
